Therapeutic productions is launching a new documentary series called Dark Thoughts. Starting with our first episode based on life of abolitionist Ottobah Cugano.
Ottobah cugano was an abolitionist in the 1800s who campaigned to end slavery as a former slave himself and wrote one of the earliest philisophical text by a black author in Britain arguing against slavery. He was a key figure in the fight against the transatlantic slave trade and his work was presented to the founder of modern conservatism Edmund Burke and the King of Great Britain alongside many others.
Our documentary will explore his life and work and during the making of it we will work with Museums to teach those involved in its creation research methods and explore historical archives. After the completion of the doc we will launch a series of workshops in neighbourhoods and academic institutions, aimed at exploring the concepts, theories and history this documentary covers whilst hearing from guest speakers.
